Peter began his academic career at Oxford University researching the geology of West Greenland and northern Scotland in the 1970s and he has watched with dismay and alarm at the accelerating retreat of the Greenland ice cap in the area where he worked. Having spent most of the rest of his career in the oil industry. He and his team have established LH2 Europe as a commercially viable way of addressing global warming.
Peter’s professional experience includes 22 years in the upstream petroleum industry with Shell, BP and LASMO where he ran world-scale projects in the Middle East, West Africa and Former Soviet Union. During his time in the industry, he led multidisciplinary teams in international business development and commercial negotiations with governments and National Oil Companies for multibillion dollar petroleum contracts in countries such as Azerbaijan and Iran. Peter’s experience includes the technical and commercial aspects of LNG supply projects that are a close analogue for the liquid hydrogen value chain.
Since 2001, Peter has co-founded several successful businesses, including a global geoscience consultancy Neftex that was sold to Halliburton in 2014. In 2005, he became an adviser on long-term energy pricing and related issues to Toyota’s Alternative Fuels Vehicles group.
